Hey all ya'll Carolinians! It's TARHEEL PIE!!
It's good, try it.
I didn't dig up any history on this pie… I just found the recipe on a postcard once in NC. Anyone else know it's origin? Its similar to the kentucky-style chocolate pecan pie, but with brown sugar and no bourbon.
pastry for a single crust 9” pie
1 C. chocolate chips
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, melted
1 C. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla
½ C. flour
½ C. sugar
½ C. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
Pour warm butter over chocolate chips and stir. Blend remaining ingredients and stir into chocolate chip mix. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350°F for 30-40 minutes.
Enjoy that baby with some vanilla ice cream!
