OF THE MONTH: Quebec Maple Syrup Pie!
Bonjour mes chers fanatiques de tarte! Voici une tarte delicieuse venant de nos voisins du nord... les Canadiens fabuleux! Quebec Pie!!
(it's the super-mape-tasty pie of the month)
THere are 2 ways to make it...
1/4 C cornstarch
1/4 C cold water
1 1 /2 C pure mape syrup (don't skimp!)
1 C heavy cream
pre-baked 9" pie crust
Whipped cream for topping.
in a small saucepan, combine cornstarch with cold water. Mix until smooth. Add maple syrup and heavy cream. mix until well blended Cook over medium heat, stirring, to a boil. Cook until thickened, about 2 minutes.
Pour filling into a pre-baked pie shell, cool to room temperature until set, about 1 hour.
Top with whipped cream.
1/2 C. cold water,
1 egg lightly beaten
1/4 C flour
2 TB butter
1 C pure maple syrup (don't skimp!)
Whisk water with flour until smooth: stir into syrup in small saucepan. Stir in egg. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until thick, about 7 minutes. Stir in butter until melted. Pour into 8" pre-baked crust. Let cool.
