PIE OF THE MONTH: CAROLINA BREAD Pie!

next pie

Hello March Pie Club Members! Isn't it cool that spring has arrived? Hey, so why not celebrate with a CAROLINA BREAD PIE? It's the pie of the month, you know.
It's the pie of the month, you know. Here's the thing though... it's not really made from bread. At least not my personal yankee definition of bread. It's really a biscuit pie... but what it w r o n g with that?

You need:

8" prebaked pie shell
2 1/2 C crumbled biscuits
4 TB melted butter
1 C milk
1 C sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
dash nutmeg

Pour crumbled biscuits into pie shell. Drizzle with butter. Combine milk, sugar, vanilla and pour over crumbs. Sprinkle with spices. Bake at 375 F for 20-30 minutes... or until lightly browned.
Serve warm with "good sauce".

Good Sauce
3 C milk
2 TB cornstarch
1 C sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla
Combine ingredients in saucepan and cook over low heat 8-10 minutes or until thickened
